Estimator

 Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, requirements, and specifications
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
  • Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job walks
  • Determine labor and construction equipment costs
  • Prepare conceptual estimates working with an owner and/or design team
  • Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules
  • Compare competitive trade bids
  • Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager
  • Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters)
  • Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors
  • Participate in bid compilation on bid day
  • Assist job site staff with estimates after the bid award
  • Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable)
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Supervise and train estimating staff (if applicable)
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator or Project Manager
  • Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge, and project management experience desirable)
  • Experience with the public hard bid process
  • Experience in negotiated conceptual building
  • Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis
  • Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Must be familiar with construction codes and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, and walking
  • This position must have the ability to comprehend the design and construction management work the Company performs, read, and interpret blueprints and specifications, and convey instructions in a clear manner to others within the Company
  • Must be a dynamic individual who is client-oriented while keeping the Company's interests in mind
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, estimating software, Bluebeam, or other relevant software applications

Compensation

The hourly rate will be determined by candidates skill and experience level and highly competitive with industry standards. Benefits package includes full employee health coverage (50% coverage for dependents), company 401(k) contribution, performance bonuses, and participation in 100% Employee-Owned Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). The expected pay range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000 annually.

Must have a valid CA Drivers License and a vehicle that can drive up to 100 miles. Business use of personal vehicles will be compensated for appropriately.

Employees must follow all company policies related to vehicles, including safety, insurance, and other applicable policies.
