Senior Project Accountant

 Job Description:

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:  

Corporate Duties:

  • With high-level goals provided, manages the project accounting function for all sizes of projects of basic to high complexity
  • Develops and maintains project accounting policies/procedures and ensures they are kept current, documented, and followed
  • Leads and facilitates monthly project review calls to identify problems/opportunities

Operational Duties:

  • Review and analyze general ledger account balance and make recommendations for corrections
  • Review and interpret financial records
  • Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports for management
  • Trace and reconcile records of financial transactions
  • Coordinate external and internal audits, including preparing audit schedules, updating the notes to the financial statements, coordinating audit timelines, and facilitating audit requests
  • Provide assistance with the budget process
  • Assist in the implementation or modifications of accounting and other information systems
  • Provide monthly variances for assigned budget areas
  • Performs review and analysis of monthly outstanding unbilled account balances
  • Prepares client invoices for contracts for projects of basic to high complexity, including verifying contract terms, collating invoice packages, filing and retention of invoice documentation
  • Monthly job forecast completion and sync with financial systems
  • Weekly dissemination of reporting and info to include live walk-throughs and operations training
  • Act as CFO of the project with working knowledge of revenue, cost, commitments, reporting, and cash flow
  • Manage and issue subcontracts and vendor contracts for large material purchases, including change orders
  • Closes out completed projects in accordance with the firm's policies and procedures
  • Research tax requirements for project location and administer audit for compliance
  • Utilizes financial systems to facilitate billing and payment of subcontractors
  • Tracks and coordinates completion of required compliance items both internally and externally

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5-7 years of varying and gradual accounting experience and construction experience preferred
  2. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
  3. Computer skills and efficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite

Compensation:

The salary will be determined by the candidate's skill and experience level and highly competitive with industry standards. The benefits package includes full employee health coverage (50% coverage for dependents), company 401(k) contribution, and performance bonuses. The expected salary range for this position is $74k-82k.
