Remote | Subject Matter Expert – Data & Statistical Chart Analysis — $25–$50/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced data and statistics professionals with strong expertise in statistical visualisation, quantitative reasoning, analytical task design, and technical communication to contribute to an advanced AI benchmark and evaluation project.

Selected professionals will interpret complex statistical and data-science visualisations, design multi-step analytical questions, produce objectively verifiable answers, and document reasoning using precise statistical language. The opportunity is particularly suited to professionals in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, and related quantitative fields. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Statistical & Graphical Analysis

• Interpret Sankey diagrams, heatmaps, calibration curves, residual plots, correlation matrices, distribution plots, and related visualisations
• Extract quantitative information and identify meaningful patterns, relationships, and anomalies
• Analyse distributions, correlations, residual behaviour, calibration, confidence intervals, and uncertainty
• Interpret axes, legends, units, scales, annotations, and graphical encodings accurately
• Distinguish observed patterns from unsupported conclusions

Quantitative Reasoning & Task Design

• Develop clear, objective questions requiring multi-step reasoning rather than simple chart reading
• Design tasks involving comparison, calculation, interpolation, inference, and trend analysis
• Ensure all required information is available from the supplied visualisation
• Produce precise answers with transparent calculations and reproducible reasoning
• Use appropriate statistical and data-science terminology throughout

AI Benchmark Evaluation & Quality Assurance

• Create objectively scorable benchmark tasks reflecting realistic analytical work
• Evaluate AI-generated answers for quantitative, interpretive, and statistical accuracy
• Verify calculations, expected answers, terminology, and technical consistency
• Review tasks for ambiguity, hidden assumptions, or misleading interpretations
• Incorporate reviewer feedback and maintain consistent quality across benchmark materials

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field
• Minimum 2 years of professional, academic, or research experience involving statistical models, visualisations, or analytical reporting
• Strong ability to interpret complex charts and graphical outputs
• Advanced understanding of axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals, and statistical annotations
• Strong multi-step quantitative reasoning skills
• Experience with distributions, correlations, residuals, calibration, and related statistical concepts
• Ability to write clear and objectively answerable analytical questions
• Strong written and verbal English communication
• Experience with technical documentation, publication, assessment design, benchmark creation, or data-annotation tasks is advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and analytical rigour
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor engagement
• Fully remote
• Compensation: $25–$50/hour
• Work will involve statistical visualisation analysis, quantitative reasoning, benchmark-question design, graphical interpretation, statistical inference, and AI evaluation
• Assignments may include Sankey diagrams, heatmaps, calibration curves, residual plots, correlation matrices, distribution plots, confidence intervals, and other advanced visualisations
• Contributors will be expected to produce objectively verifiable tasks and solutions
• Project scope, chart types, benchmark requirements, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project needs
• Work must be completed without using confidential, proprietary, restricted, personally identifiable, or otherwise protected information belonging to any employer, client, research institution, data provider, or other third party
