We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for US-qualified legal professionals with experience in legal research, analysis, professional writing, and the practical application of legal standards across one or more practice areas.

This role supports an AI research initiative focused on improving how advanced systems understand and reason about legal topics. Selected professionals will evaluate written and AI-generated content, answer domain-specific questions, identify reliable legal reference materials, and provide practical insight into real-world legal research, drafting, analysis, and professional workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Content Evaluation

  • Review written content and AI-generated responses for legal accuracy, relevance, and professional quality
  • Assess whether legal analyses, explanations, and conclusions reflect sound professional reasoning
  • Identify factual errors, unsupported conclusions, omitted issues, and misleading interpretations
  • Evaluate content within the candidate's strongest areas of legal practice

Legal Research & Analysis

  • Answer legal questions using clear, well-reasoned explanations grounded in relevant authority
  • Apply professional judgment to matters involving contracts, litigation, regulation, compliance, corporate law, intellectual property, or related fields
  • Assess whether responses appropriately distinguish statutes, regulations, case law, and secondary authority
  • Provide corrections and supporting rationale where content requires improvement

Authority & Reference Review

  • Identify reliable legal sources relevant to assigned topics
  • Review the use of case law databases, statutes, regulations, treatises, and professional reference materials
  • Assess whether cited authorities are relevant, current, and applied appropriately
  • Highlight jurisdictional limitations, conflicting authority, and contextual considerations affecting legal conclusions

Professional Workflow Expertise

  • Share insight into how legal professionals conduct research, prepare written analyses, and manage legal work
  • Evaluate content involving memoranda, briefs, contracts, compliance materials, and related documentation
  • Explain practical legal standards, research methods, and professional decision-making processes
  • Collaborate asynchronously with a small group of subject-matter experts across different fields

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • Admission to a United States state bar
  • At least 2 years of professional legal experience
  • Experience across contracts, litigation, regulatory and compliance, corporate law, intellectual property, or multiple practice areas
  • Strong familiarity with legal research tools, case law databases, statutes, regulations, and treatises
  • Experience preparing legal memoranda, briefs, advisory materials, or other substantive written work
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Strong written communication, analytical reasoning, and attention to detail
  • Reliable availability for approximately 10 hours per week
  • Current residence in the United States

Educational Background

  • A Juris Doctor degree or equivalent legal qualification is required
  • Admission to a United States state bar is required
  • Advanced training in legal research, writing, litigation, compliance, or another relevant practice area may strengthen an application
  • Additional qualifications in legal information management or law librarianship may also be valuable

Nice to Have

  • Experience across more than one legal practice area
  • Background as a law librarian or legal research specialist
  • Experience writing or publishing legal memoranda, briefs, CLE materials, articles, or similar content
  • Familiarity with regulatory analysis, contract review, litigation support, or corporate advisory work
  • Experience reviewing or mentoring the work of junior lawyers, researchers, or legal staff
  • Comfort using AI tools such as ChatGPT or comparable systems
  • Previous experience with content evaluation, structured feedback, or AI training projects
  • Familiarity with legal quality assurance, peer review, or professional education
