About the job Remote | Physics Expert (Condensed Matter / Quantum Information) — $100–$170/hour
We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Physics Experts in condensed matter physics, quantum information, and related many-body systems with strong expertise in exact diagonalisation, symmetry reduction, block-diagonalisation, QuSpin, Rydberg blockade, quantum many-body scars, and constrained quantum dynamics.
Selected professionals will contribute to a frontier research-level benchmark involving the PXP model, Rydberg-blockaded systems, large Hilbert spaces, symmetry-resolved exact diagonalisation, and Z2-state overlap analysis. Contributors may serve as Solvers, Auditors, or Adjudicators depending on expertise and seniority. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
Exact Diagonalisation & Symmetry Methods
- Develop exact diagonalisation workflows for constrained many-body systems
- Apply translation and reflection symmetries to construct reduced Hilbert-space sectors
- Perform block-diagonalisation of many-body Hamiltonians
- Work with large system sizes, including L = 26
- Validate numerical implementations against expected physical behaviour
PXP, Rydberg & Many-Body Analysis
- Analyse the PXP model, Rydberg blockade, and constrained quantum dynamics
- Compute and interpret overlaps with Z2 and related states
- Identify signatures associated with quantum many-body scars and non-ergodic dynamics
- Relate numerical spectra and state structure to underlying many-body physics
- Use QuSpin or custom numerical approaches where appropriate
Research Evaluation & Adjudication
- Develop rigorous solutions as a Solver
- Audit calculations, code, symmetry assignments, and physical interpretations
- Compare alternative numerical approaches and adjudicate competing solutions
- Identify conceptual, mathematical, or implementation errors
- Document reproducible methods and research-level technical conclusions clearly
Ideal Profile
- PhD or equivalent research experience in condensed matter physics, quantum information, or a closely related field
- Strong expertise in exact diagonalisation and Hamiltonian block-diagonalisation
- Experience with translation and reflection symmetries and reduced Hilbert spaces
- Practical experience with QuSpin is highly valuable
- Strong understanding of the PXP model, Rydberg blockade, and quantum many-body scars
- Experience with constrained quantum dynamics and Z2-state overlap analysis
- Strong numerical and computational physics skills
- Ability to interpret numerical results in physically meaningful terms
- Strong scientific-writing and research-review skills
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
