About the job Remote | Aerodynamics Expert — $60–$130/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Aerodynamics Experts with strong expertise in external aerodynamics, CFD, wind-tunnel testing, compressible and incompressible flow, turbulence, propulsion integration, and aerodynamic data interpretation to contribute to an advanced AI training and aerospace-engineering evaluation project.

Selected professionals will solve and review advanced aerodynamic problems, assess AI-generated technical responses, analyse realistic design and testing scenarios, and provide rigorous feedback grounded in professional aerospace and thermofluids practice. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Aerodynamics, CFD & Flow Analysis

  • Solve advanced aerodynamic design and analysis problems across varied operating conditions
  • Review CFD setups, boundary conditions, meshing strategies, solver choices, convergence, and numerical stability
  • Interpret pressure, velocity, force, and flow-field results
  • Apply compressible and incompressible flow principles, including Mach effects, shocks, expansion phenomena, and pressure changes
  • Analyse boundary layers, turbulence, separation, drag, and near-wall behaviour
  • Identify physically inconsistent assumptions, calculations, or conclusions

Experimental, Propulsion & Validation Work

  • Review wind-tunnel test setups, procedures, data-reduction methods, uncertainty, instrumentation, and scaling considerations
  • Compare experimental results against CFD, analytical methods, or hand calculations
  • Analyse propulsion-integration effects, including intake, exhaust, installation, and surface interactions
  • Apply verification and validation principles to computational and experimental results
  • Evaluate aerodynamic trade-offs affecting performance and stability

AI Evaluation & Technical Review

  • Review AI-generated aerodynamics and CFD content for correctness, completeness, and engineering quality
  • Identify calculation errors, weak assumptions, modelling issues, or unrealistic recommendations
  • Distinguish substantive engineering problems from acceptable alternative approaches
  • Provide clear written explanations and structured technical feedback
  • Collaborate remotely with other subject-matter experts and reviewers

Ideal Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with a thermofluids or aerodynamics specialisation
  • BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant industry experience may also be suitable
  • At least 3 years of hands-on aerodynamic design or analysis experience
  • Strong expertise in external aerodynamics, compressible and incompressible flow, boundary layers, and turbulence
  • Experience with CFD and aerodynamic data interpretation
  • Familiarity with wind-tunnel testing or experimental aerodynamics
  • Experience with propulsion-integration aerodynamics is highly valuable
  • Ability to combine CFD, test data, analytical methods, and hand calculations
  • Familiarity with AIAA standards, wind-tunnel protocols, and CFD verification and validation practices
  • Experience with ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or comparable tools is advantageous
  • Flight-test data analysis experience is beneficial
  • Strong technical-writing, peer-review, and critical-analysis skills
  • Evidence of rigorous problem-authoring or technical-review experience is highly valued, including publications, standards work, examination writing, textbook authorship, technical awards, grants, fellowships, or comparable achievements
  • No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
