We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced special education professionals with strong expertise in Individualised Education Programs (IEPs), student support planning, accommodations, instructional services, and special education documentation.

This role focuses on reviewing professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials related to special education and IEP processes. Selected experts will assess outputs for educational accuracy, practical relevance, internal consistency, clarity, presentation quality, and overall professional credibility.

Key Responsibilities

Special Education Review

  • Evaluate special education work products for accuracy, completeness, and professional quality
  • Assess whether recommendations reflect sound special education practice and realistic school environments
  • Identify unsupported assumptions, missing considerations, and inconsistencies
  • Review materials involving student needs, educational services, and instructional support
  • Apply professional judgement grounded in real-world special education experience

IEP Review & Planning

  • Review Individualised Education Programs and related planning materials
  • Assess whether goals, services, accommodations, and instructional recommendations are clearly and consistently presented
  • Evaluate alignment between identified student needs and proposed educational supports
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or unclear elements within IEP-related materials
  • Review whether plans are practical and appropriately structured for implementation

Student Support & Accommodations

  • Evaluate recommendations involving accommodations, modifications, and specialised instructional support
  • Assess whether proposed approaches appropriately address identified educational needs
  • Review student-support strategies for clarity and practical usefulness
  • Identify recommendations that are incomplete, inconsistent, or insufficiently supported
  • Evaluate coordination of educational supports across relevant school contexts

Educational Goals & Progress

  • Review academic, behavioural, functional, or developmental goals where relevant
  • Assess whether goals are clear, measurable, and connected to identified student needs
  • Evaluate progress-monitoring approaches and supporting documentation
  • Identify inconsistencies between goals, services, and reported progress
  • Review whether educational recommendations appropriately reflect available information

Special Education Documentation

  • Evaluate reports, plans, records, and other special education materials for accuracy and clarity
  • Review consistency of information across related documents
  • Identify missing information, contradictory statements, and documentation weaknesses
  • Assess organisation, readability, and professional presentation
  • Ensure conclusions and recommendations are clearly supported by the underlying information

Data & Spreadsheet Review

  • Evaluate spreadsheets and analyses supporting special education or student-service decisions
  • Review calculations, tables, metrics, and supporting information for consistency
  • Assess whether quantitative information accurately supports stated conclusions
  • Identify discrepancies between underlying data and reported findings
  • Evaluate clarity and usability of student-support reporting materials

Documents & Presentation Review

  • Evaluate special education documents, spreadsheets, reports, and slide decks for accuracy and completeness
  • Review presentations for logical flow, clarity, and professional quality
  • Identify factual, analytical, aesthetic, and formatting issues
  • Assess whether charts, tables, and visual materials accurately represent underlying information
  • Ensure key findings and recommendations are communicated clearly

Structured Evaluation & Feedback

  • Assess assigned outputs against domain-specific quality criteria
  • Identify educational, factual, analytical, and presentation weaknesses
  • Distinguish substantive special education issues from minor editorial concerns
  • Provide clear, structured written feedback explaining identified strengths and weaknesses
  • Apply evaluation standards consistently across different special education work products

Ideal Profile

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in special education, IEP coordination, special education teaching, inclusion services, or a closely related field
  • Experience as a Special Education Teacher, IEP Coordinator, Special Education Specialist, Special Needs Educator, Inclusion Specialist, or similar professional
  • Strong practical understanding of IEP development, review, and implementation
  • Experience developing or reviewing special education plans, student-support materials, educational documentation, or related reports
  • Ability to assess educational recommendations for clarity, consistency, and practical appropriateness
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint / Google Slides
  • Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
  • Native or professional fluency in English
  • Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured feedback
  • Strong attention to educational, analytical, documentation, and presentation detail
  • Master's degree or higher from a recognised institution is advantageous

Engagement Details

  • Part-time independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Compensation: $70–$110/hour
  • Work includes evaluation of special education and IEP documents, spreadsheets, reports, and presentation materials
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, school, client, institution, or other third party
  • H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
