About the job Remote | Criminal Lawyer (BigLaw Firms) — $140–$400/hour
We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Criminal Lawyers with substantial BigLaw or major law firm experience and strong expertise in criminal law, legal research, court filings, legal writing, case analysis, and complex legal reasoning to contribute to an advanced legal AI training and evaluation project.
Selected professionals will analyse criminal-law materials, review complex legal documents, summarise legal arguments and procedural issues, and evaluate AI-generated legal content against professional standards. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
Criminal Law Analysis & Research
- Analyse criminal statutes, case law, court filings, and complex fact patterns
- Identify material legal issues, arguments, procedural posture, and relevant authorities
- Evaluate legal reasoning for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Distinguish controlling principles from secondary or less relevant considerations
- Incorporate current legal developments into project work where appropriate
Legal Writing, Review & Summarisation
- Review and edit legal documents for accuracy, structure, clarity, and precision
- Summarise judicial decisions, legal arguments, procedural issues, and case materials
- Identify unsupported assertions, ambiguities, or analytical weaknesses
- Distil sophisticated criminal-law concepts into concise professional explanations
- Synthesise large volumes of legal information while preserving substantive accuracy
AI Evaluation & Quality Review
- Review AI-generated criminal-law content for legal accuracy and practical applicability
- Identify omitted issues, weak reasoning, or incorrect conclusions
- Evaluate whether outputs reflect real-world professional legal standards
- Provide clear, actionable feedback supporting model improvement
- Collaborate remotely with legal and cross-functional project teams
Ideal Profile
- JD or LLM from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership
- Substantial experience practising criminal law
- BigLaw or comparable major law firm experience is highly valuable
- Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills
- Experience reviewing court filings, judicial opinions, and complex case materials
- Proven ability to synthesise large volumes of legal information
- Exceptional attention to detail and professional judgement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain nuanced legal concepts clearly
- Familiarity with legal technology or digital legal workflows is advantageous
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

- Work will involve criminal-law analysis, court-filing review, case-law research, legal writing, summarisation, editing, and AI-output evaluation

- Project scope, workload, legal topics, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
