Remote | Subject Matter Expert – Chart & Data Visualization Analysis — $25–$50/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced subject-matter professionals with strong expertise in chart interpretation, data visualisation analysis, quantitative reasoning, technical question design, and domain-specific terminology to contribute to an advanced AI training and evaluation project.

Selected professionals will interpret complex charts and visualisations, design rigorous quantitative questions, produce objectively verifiable answers, and explain multi-step reasoning clearly. The opportunity is particularly suited to professionals in Medicine & Biostatistics, Finance & Economics, Engineering & Physics, Earth Sciences & GIS, Data Science & Statistics, Operations & Manufacturing, and other quantitatively intensive fields. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Chart Analysis & Quantitative Reasoning

• Interpret complex charts, graphs, annotations, scales, units, and multiple data series accurately
• Identify trends, differences, relationships, and notable patterns
• Perform multi-step calculations involving values, rates, changes, proportions, and trends
• Distinguish observed data from derived conclusions
• Apply appropriate domain terminology throughout analysis

Question & Task Design

• Create clear, objective, and unambiguous questions based on supplied visualisations
• Design tasks requiring substantive reasoning rather than simple data lookup
• Ensure all required information is available from the source chart
• Align task difficulty with the complexity of the visualisation
• Produce precise answers with transparent, reproducible calculations

AI Evaluation & Quality Assurance

• Develop analytical examples and benchmark tasks for AI training and evaluation
• Review AI-generated answers for numerical, interpretive, and terminology accuracy
• Verify calculations, expected answers, units, and statistical annotations
• Identify ambiguity, unsupported extrapolation, or inconsistent reasoning
• Incorporate reviewer feedback and maintain consistent quality standards

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant quantitative or technical field
• At least 2 years of professional, academic, or research experience working with charts or quantitative data
• Strong chart-interpretation and multi-step reasoning skills
• Ability to interpret multiple series, annotations, scales, confidence intervals, and time-series data
• Strong understanding of units, axes, legends, and domain-specific visual conventions
• Ability to design objectively answerable analytical questions
• Strong written analytical communication skills
• Experience creating technical assessments, benchmarks, analytical exercises, or structured evaluation tasks is advantageous
• Advanced degree, professional credential, or significant domain specialisation is highly desirable
• Experience in Medicine & Biostatistics, Finance & Economics, Engineering & Physics, Earth Sciences & GIS, Data Science & Statistics, Operations & Manufacturing, or a comparable field is highly relevant
• Strong attention to detail and analytical rigour
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor engagement

• Compensation: $25–$50/hour
• Work will involve chart interpretation, data visualisation analysis, quantitative reasoning, question design, calculation review, and AI-generated analytical-content evaluation
• Assignments may involve multiple data series, annotations, confidence intervals, specialised units, and domain-specific visual conventions
• Contributors may work across medicine, finance, economics, engineering, physics, earth science, GIS, statistics, data science, operations, manufacturing, and related fields
• Project scope, chart types, domain coverage, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
• Work must be completed without using confidential, proprietary, restricted, personally identifiable, or otherwise protected information belonging to any employer, client, healthcare organisation, financial institution, research institution, data provider, or other third party
