We are sharing a specialised remote consulting opportunity for experienced U.K.-based molecular biology professionals with hands-on expertise in nucleic-acid sequence design, DNA and RNA constructs, primers, plasmids, repair templates, genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or related life-science research.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on AI-assisted life-science model training, molecular biology task development, DNA/RNA sequence design review, expert-quality ground truth creation, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will translate real-world molecular biology expertise into challenging domain-grounded tasks, review AI-generated scientific outputs, and provide detailed feedback based on research experience, experimental design judgment, publication background, and molecular biology reasoning.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Molecular Biology Sequence Design & Review

  • Design and review DNA and RNA sequences, primers, plasmids, repair templates, and related molecular biology constructs based on professional research experience
  • Evaluate nucleic-acid design tasks for biological plausibility, scientific rigor, documentation quality, and alignment with expert molecular biology standards
  • Translate pre-experimental molecular biology design workflows into structured task examples, reference solutions, and review-ready deliverables
  • Support work involving genetics, molecular biology, synthetic biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related life-science topics depending on expertise and project needs

Task Authoring & Ground Truth Development

  • Author challenging, domain-grounded molecular biology tasks that reflect realistic research and design scenarios
  • Write accurate, well-documented solutions that can serve as ground truth for AI-assisted scientific evaluation
  • Explain design choices clearly, including scientific reasoning, assumptions, constraints, and expected outputs
  • Create structured deliverables that support consistent review, evaluation, and quality control across molecular biology task pools

AI Output Evaluation & Expert Feedback

  • Review AI-generated molecular biology outputs against expert-quality solutions
  • Evaluate outputs for correctness, rigor, reasoning quality, scientific accuracy, and practical usefulness
  • Identify incomplete reasoning, weak biological assumptions, inaccurate design logic, missing constraints, or unclear scientific explanations
  • Provide clear written feedback to improve AI-assisted molecular biology outputs and training data quality

Structured Collaboration & Quality Control

  • Collaborate with other subject-matter experts through remote project workflows to maintain consistency and accuracy across task outputs
  • Follow detailed task instructions, quality criteria, and project-specific standards accurately
  • Review discrete molecular biology deliverables and identify areas for improvement
  • Support high-quality scientific data development through careful documentation, expert judgment, and asynchronous collaboration

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • Hands-on experience as a practicing or recently practicing molecular biologist
  • Professional experience designing nucleic-acid sequences prior to experiments, including primers, plasmids, RNAs, repair templates, or related molecular biology constructs
  • Strong research background in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or a related life-science field
  • Ability to clearly justify scientific design choices in written form
  • Experience creating research documentation, experimental planning materials, design notes, scientific explanations, or structured technical outputs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify weak reasoning, incomplete assumptions, inaccurate scientific claims, or design-quality issues
  • Comfort reviewing AI-generated scientific content and applying detailed evaluation criteria
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous, project-based environment
  • Current U.K. location

Educational Background

  • Advanced degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or a related life-science field is strongly preferred
  • PhD-level expertise is especially relevant for this opportunity
  • Candidates with equivalent senior research experience, strong publication history, and direct nucleic-acid design expertise may also be considered
  • A strong peer-reviewed publication record is highly valued, especially with work in notable scientific venues or preprint repositories
  • Applicants may be asked to include publication links, such as journal publications, preprints, DOI links, or similar research references

Nice to Have

  • Recent publication history in molecular biology, genetics, synthetic biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or related life-science research
  • Experience with primers, plasmid design, RNA design, repair templates, construct planning, genome editing workflows, or related pre-experimental design tasks
  • Experience creating expert-reviewed scientific tasks, training materials, benchmark-style problems, research documentation, or structured evaluation datasets
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted scientific review, rubric-based evaluation, or quality control for technical scientific outputs
  • Ability to explain complex molecular biology reasoning clearly for structured review and evaluation workflows

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply molecular biology and nucleic-acid design expertise to structured remote project work
  • Contribute to high-quality AI-assisted scientific training data and life-science model evaluation
  • Use hands-on research judgment in a focused task-authoring, review, and quality-control environment
  • Work on discrete deliverables aligned with scientific background, publication history, and subject-matter expertise
  • Remote UK structure with competitive compensation
