About the job Remote | Legal & Compliance Specialist — $70–$110/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced legal and compliance professionals with strong expertise in regulatory analysis, risk assessment, policy interpretation, and professional review.
This role focuses on evaluating professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials involving legal, regulatory, and compliance workflows. Selected experts will assess outputs for accuracy, completeness, analytical rigour, presentation quality, and overall professional credibility.
Key Responsibilities
Legal & Compliance Review
- Evaluate work products involving legal, regulatory, and compliance matters
- Assess whether conclusions are accurate, complete, and appropriately supported
- Identify legal or regulatory gaps, unsupported assumptions, and inconsistent reasoning
- Review recommendations for practicality, proportionality, and professional credibility
- Apply experienced judgement across a range of legal and compliance scenarios
Regulatory Analysis
- Review materials involving regulatory obligations, policies, and internal requirements
- Assess whether applicable rules are interpreted and applied correctly
- Identify inconsistencies between stated requirements and proposed actions
- Evaluate whether regulatory conclusions are adequately supported
- Distinguish substantive compliance risks from minor drafting or presentation issues
Risk & Governance
- Evaluate risk assessments, governance structures, and compliance controls
- Review accountability, escalation, monitoring, and documentation processes
- Assess whether identified risks have appropriate mitigation measures
- Identify weaknesses in control design, ownership, or implementation
- Evaluate whether proposed governance approaches are realistic and proportionate
Legal Documentation & Policy Review
- Review legal memoranda, policies, procedures, compliance reports, and related documents
- Assess drafting quality, internal consistency, and clarity
- Identify omissions, contradictory provisions, or unsupported conclusions
- Evaluate whether documentation accurately reflects the underlying requirements
- Review recommendations for practical implementation
Documents, Spreadsheets & Presentations
- Evaluate professional documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks for accuracy and completeness
- Review executive presentations for clarity, logical flow, and decision usefulness
- Identify factual, analytical, aesthetic, and formatting issues
- Assess whether charts, tables, and supporting materials accurately represent underlying analysis
- Ensure recommendations are clearly connected to evidence and stated requirements
Structured Evaluation & Feedback
- Assess assigned outputs against domain-specific quality criteria
- Identify legal, regulatory, analytical, and presentation errors
- Distinguish substantive deficiencies from minor editorial concerns
- Provide clear, structured written feedback explaining identified strengths and weaknesses
- Apply evaluation standards consistently across different work products
Ideal Profile
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience in legal, compliance, regulatory affairs, corporate law, in-house counsel, risk, or a closely related field
- Strong practical understanding of legal and compliance workflows
- Experience reviewing policies, regulatory requirements, governance frameworks, or legal work products
- Ability to identify material legal or compliance gaps, unsupported conclusions, and weak risk analysis
- Experience working across legal, compliance, risk, regulatory, or business functions is highly valued
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint / Google Slides
- Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
- Native or professional fluency in English
- Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured feedback
- Strong attention to legal, regulatory, analytical, and presentation detail
- Master's degree or higher from a recognised institution is advantageous
Engagement Details
- Part-time independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
- Compensation: $70–$110/hour
- Work includes evaluation of legal and compliance documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
- Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
