We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced circuit design and electrical engineering professionals with strong expertise in analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF systems, programmatic EDA workflows, hardware verification, and Python to contribute to an advanced AI training and engineering evaluation project.

Selected professionals will create, solve, review, and validate circuit-design tasks involving real-world hardware, simulation, verification, and programmatic engineering workflows. The work requires practical circuit-design experience beyond academic simulation, including exposure to designs that have been fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped out, together with the ability to work through scripts, text-based inputs, command-line tools, or programmatic APIs.

Key Responsibilities

Circuit Design & Electrical Analysis

  • Design, analyse, and validate analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits
  • Translate electrical requirements into schematics, netlists, models, HDL, constraints, or simulation inputs
  • Evaluate voltage, current, power, gain, bandwidth, impedance, noise, timing, stability, thermal behaviour, and related electrical characteristics
  • Assess component selection, operating margins, tolerances, and design trade-offs
  • Determine whether circuit implementations satisfy intended electrical and functional requirements

Simulation, Verification & EDA Workflows

  • Run circuit simulation, synthesis, verification, and related engineering workflows using command-line-accessible or scriptable tools
  • Perform transient, frequency-domain, corner, tolerance, worst-case, and Monte Carlo analyses where appropriate
  • Compare simulated behaviour against analytical calculations and physical measurements
  • Diagnose invalid configurations, unstable behaviour, or incorrect modelling assumptions
  • Build technically reproducible workflows suitable for independent verification

Python Automation & Programmatic Engineering

  • Use Python to generate inputs, automate simulations, execute parameter sweeps, control instruments, and analyse outputs
  • Integrate Python with EDA tools, circuit simulators, verification frameworks, and laboratory workflows
  • Work with tools such as PySpice, NumPy, SciPy, pandas, Matplotlib, cocotb, or comparable libraries
  • Develop scripts and automated checks that improve repeatability and engineering efficiency
  • Ensure engineering tasks can be reproduced through code, configuration files, text-based inputs, or command-line processes

Hardware Validation & Technical Review

  • Diagnose issues involving component selection, parasitics, layout, power integrity, signal integrity, thermal behaviour, interfaces, or manufacturing
  • Apply experience from hardware bring-up, laboratory validation, design verification, or post-fabrication debugging
  • Review AI-generated circuit solutions for technical and physical correctness
  • Identify unsupported conclusions, incorrect assumptions, invalid circuit configurations, or unrealistic results
  • Develop reproducible reference solutions and automated verification criteria

Ideal Profile

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Alternatively, a BS in Electrical Engineering with at least 1–2 years of relevant professional circuit-design experience
  • Meaningful hands-on experience designing analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, or RF circuits
  • Experience with designs that were fabricated, integrated, shipped, or taped out
  • Simulation-only academic experience is not sufficient for this engagement
  • Practical proficiency with Python
  • Experience with at least one EDA, circuit-simulation, PCB, HDL, synthesis, or verification tool supporting CLI, scripting, text-based inputs, or a programmatic API
  • Relevant tools may include ngspice, Xyce, Yosys, Verilator, KiCad scripting, SPICE-compatible simulators, HDL simulators, synthesis tools, or comparable platforms
  • Strong understanding of circuit behaviour, component selection, tolerances, failure modes, and design trade-offs
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, laboratory validation, design verification, or post-fabrication debugging
  • Ability to explain circuit behaviour, engineering decisions, and technical limitations clearly

Engagement Details

  • Part-time independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote and open to candidates worldwide
  • Compensation: $80–$130/hour
  • Expected commitment: approximately 15 hours per week
  • Schedule is flexible, including the option to work evenings or weekends
  • Compensation is output-based, with payment made for tasks that meet project specifications
  • Minimum submission requirements apply
  • Work will involve circuit design, programmatic EDA workflows, Python automation, engineering simulation, verification, and hardware-focused technical review
  • Selected professionals should be prepared to begin their first task within approximately 24–48 hours of completing onboarding
  • Roles are typically filled within approximately 48 hours
  • The selection process may include screening questions, an approximately 30-minute AI interview, and hiring-manager review
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, research group, or other third party
