Remote | Adolescent Suicide & Self-Harm Specialist — $45–$95/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced child and adolescent mental-health professionals with advanced expertise in suicide and self-harm risk assessment, clinical reasoning, intervention judgement, safeguarding, and escalation decision-making to contribute to an advanced AI training and clinical evaluation project.

Selected professionals will review complex adolescent case material, develop structured risk formulations, differentiate between self-harm, suicidal ideation, intent, and acute risk, and provide clear clinical guidance grounded in established assessment frameworks and evidence-based practice. The work requires substantial direct clinical experience with adolescents, strong professional judgement, and the ability to communicate nuanced safety decisions clearly to non-specialist audiences. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Risk Assessment & Formulation

• Review adolescent case materials and produce structured written assessments of suicide and self-harm risk
• Apply expert clinical judgement to determine severity, acuity, and relevant risk factors
• Differentiate clearly between self-harm, suicidal ideation, suicidal intent, and acute risk
• Integrate historical, contextual, behavioural, and clinical information into defensible risk formulations
• Identify uncertainty or missing information that materially affects clinical interpretation

Assessment Tools & Intervention Judgement

• Apply validated assessment approaches such as the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) where appropriate
• Interpret assessment findings alongside broader clinical formulation rather than relying on individual indicators in isolation
• Recommend proportionate response pathways based on the level and nature of identified risk
• Apply evidence-based safety-planning principles and appropriate escalation judgement
• Evaluate whether proposed interventions are clinically appropriate for the adolescent presentation

Safeguarding & Contextual Risk Analysis

• Identify relevant comorbidities, safeguarding concerns, family or social factors, and contextual risks
• Assess how co-occurring clinical or environmental factors may influence overall risk
• Consider trauma history, developmental context, protective factors, and support availability where relevant
• Incorporate safeguarding considerations into clinical recommendations
• Identify circumstances requiring escalation to more intensive clinical or emergency support

Clinical Guidance & Quality Evaluation

• Produce clear, research-grade written guidance suitable for implementation by non-specialist users
• Explain clinical reasoning, escalation decisions, and intervention recommendations precisely
• Benchmark risk judgements against established clinical guidance and peer assessments
• Review complex cases for consistency, completeness, and clinical safety
• Incorporate feedback and evolving project standards into subsequent assessments

Ideal Profile

• 3–5+ years of post-qualification experience involving direct adolescent clinical work focused on suicide or self-harm risk
• Specialist background in child or adolescent psychiatry, psychology, or a closely related clinical discipline
• Active clinical licence or professional registration in good standing
• Recent experience with an active adolescent caseload within approximately the past two years
• Advanced proficiency with suicide and self-harm risk-assessment frameworks such as the C-SSRS
• Strong familiarity with evidence-based safety-planning approaches
• Experience distinguishing ideation, intent, self-harm behaviour, and varying levels of acute risk
• Familiarity with evidence-based adolescent interventions such as DBT-A, CBT, or trauma-informed approaches is highly valued
• Crisis, inpatient, or other high-acuity clinical experience is advantageous
• Contributions to suicidology research, clinical guidance, or related professional work are beneficial
• Exceptional written English and ability to communicate nuanced clinical reasoning clearly
• No prior experience in AI training or model evaluation is required

• Compensation: $45–$95/hour
• Work will involve adolescent case review, suicide and self-harm risk formulation, escalation judgement, safeguarding analysis, and structured clinical guidance
• Strong recent clinical experience with adolescent suicide and self-harm presentations is central to this engagement
• Active professional licensure or registration is expected
• Selected professionals should be prepared to begin their first tasks within approximately 24–48 hours of completing onboarding
• Roles are typically filled within approximately 48 hours
• Project scope, workload, case complexity, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
• Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, healthcare organisation, patient, or other third party
