Remote | Adolescent/Child Safeguarding & Exploitation Specialist — $45–$95/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced child and adolescent safeguarding professionals with advanced expertise in exploitation risk, clinical reasoning, safeguarding escalation, consent and developmental judgement, and trauma-informed assessment to contribute to an advanced AI training and clinical evaluation project.

Selected professionals will review complex adolescent scenarios involving sexual safety and exploitation risk, produce structured safeguarding assessments, identify indicators of grooming or coercion, and recommend proportionate protective actions and escalation pathways. The work requires substantial child-protection experience, strong professional judgement, and the ability to communicate nuanced safeguarding decisions clearly to non-specialist audiences. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Safeguarding & Exploitation Risk Assessment

• Review complex adolescent cases involving sexual safety and exploitation concerns
• Assess potential child sexual exploitation (CSE) and child sexual abuse (CSA) risks
• Identify indicators of grooming, coercion, exploitation, manipulation, or unsafe power dynamics
• Distinguish between lower-level concerns, emerging risk, and situations requiring urgent intervention
• Produce structured and defensible written safeguarding assessments

Severity Staging & Escalation Judgement

• Apply recognised safeguarding and risk-assessment frameworks to determine urgency and severity
• Recommend appropriate protective actions and escalation pathways
• Identify circumstances in which mandatory reporting or formal safeguarding intervention may be required
• Balance immediate safety concerns with broader contextual and developmental considerations
• Explain escalation decisions clearly and proportionately

Consent, Capacity & Developmental Assessment

• Evaluate consent, developmental capacity, vulnerability, and contextual factors within adolescent scenarios
• Consider age, maturity, coercion, dependency, and power imbalance when assessing risk
• Apply developmentally appropriate judgement to complex or ambiguous situations
• Distinguish apparent consent from situations involving exploitation, manipulation, or compromised capacity
• Integrate these factors into overall safeguarding recommendations

Trauma-Informed Clinical Guidance

• Apply trauma-informed principles when reviewing case material and developing recommendations
• Consider the impact of adverse childhood experiences, trauma history, and safeguarding context where relevant
• Produce clear guidance that avoids stigmatising or overly simplistic interpretations
• Document reasoning in a way that supports practical action by non-specialist users
• Maintain sensitivity while preserving clinical and safeguarding precision

Quality Review & Standards Alignment

• Benchmark safeguarding judgements against established protocols and peer standards
• Review recommendations for consistency, defensibility, and alignment with recognised safeguarding practice
• Identify gaps, ambiguities, or missing information that materially affect risk interpretation
• Incorporate feedback and evolving project standards into subsequent assessments
• Maintain high standards of written accuracy and professional documentation

Ideal Profile

• 3–5+ years of post-qualification experience in child safeguarding, adolescent protection, or a closely related clinical role
• Specialist background in child protection, forensic child or adolescent psychiatry or psychology, paediatric medicine with a safeguarding remit, or a comparable discipline
• Active clinical licence or professional registration in good standing
• Current or recent safeguarding practice or adolescent caseload within approximately the past two years
• Demonstrated expertise in CSE and CSA risk assessment
• Strong understanding of mandatory-reporting requirements
• Advanced skills in trauma-informed practice and safeguarding documentation
• Strong ability to assess consent, developmental capacity, coercion, and exploitation risk
• Experience in a designated safeguarding role or expert-witness capacity is advantageous
• Familiarity with ACEs and trauma frameworks is beneficial
• Exceptional written English and ability to communicate complex safeguarding reasoning clearly
• No prior experience in AI training or model evaluation is required

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor engagement
• Fully remote
• Compensation: $45–$95/hour
• Work will involve adolescent safeguarding assessment, exploitation-risk detection, severity staging, escalation judgement, consent and developmental analysis, and structured written guidance
• Strong recent experience in child or adolescent safeguarding is central to this engagement
• Active professional licensure or registration is expected
• Selected professionals should be prepared to begin their first tasks within approximately 24–48 hours of completing onboarding
• Roles are typically filled within approximately 48 hours
• Project scope, workload, case complexity, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
• Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, healthcare organisation, patient, or other third party
