About the job Remote | Medical Coder — $25–$40/hour
We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Medical Coders with strong expertise in ICD-10, CPT, Evaluation & Management coding, clinical documentation review, and coding quality assurance to contribute to an advanced AI training and medical-data evaluation project.
Selected professionals will review clinical documentation, assign and validate medical codes, apply E&M guidelines, and provide structured feedback on coding quality and edge cases. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Coding & Documentation Review
- Review clinical records and assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Validate coding decisions against documented diagnoses, procedures, and services
- Identify incomplete, ambiguous, or inconsistent clinical documentation
- Apply professional judgement to complex coding scenarios
- Maintain consistent coding accuracy across varied specialties and documentation types
E&M Coding & Compliance
- Apply current Evaluation & Management leveling guidelines
- Assess documentation against applicable E&M requirements
- Identify undercoding, overcoding, or unsupported level selection
- Use current official coding references to support decisions
- Document coding rationale clearly where clarification is required
Quality Review & AI Evaluation
- Review coded examples and model-assisted outputs for accuracy and consistency
- Identify recurring errors, edge cases, or guideline interpretation issues
- Provide structured feedback supporting improved coding datasets and workflows
- Contribute to quality assurance and validation of medical-coding tasks
- Help refine evaluation standards for clinically grounded coding outputs
Ideal Profile
- Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Solid understanding of Evaluation & Management guidelines
- Experience coding across diverse clinical documentation types
- Strong attention to detail and coding compliance
- Ability to explain coding decisions clearly in written and verbal formats
- Access to current ICD-10, CPT, and E&M reference materials
- Familiarity with digital annotation or quality-review tools is advantageous
- Experience with data-driven or coding-validation projects is beneficial
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
Engagement Details
- Independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Compensation: $25–$40/hour
- Work will involve medical-record annotation, ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, E&M leveling, dataset validation, and coding-quality review
- Active CPC certification is required

- Project scope, workload, coding guidelines, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
