We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced technical professionals with backgrounds in software engineering, platform development, infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, or related technology functions.

This role focuses on reviewing and evaluating engineering and technology-related documents and professional work products for quality, accuracy, relevance, and technical soundness. Selected professionals will assess technical plans, analyses, spreadsheets, presentations, and supporting materials while providing clear, structured feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Software Engineering Review

  • Review software engineering documents, plans, and technical materials for accuracy and completeness
  • Assess whether proposed approaches are logically structured and technically credible
  • Evaluate technical assumptions, dependencies, and implementation considerations
  • Identify inconsistencies, missing information, or unsupported conclusions
  • Apply professional judgement grounded in real-world software engineering experience

Platform Engineering

  • Evaluate materials related to platform architecture, development, and operations
  • Review technical plans involving shared services, systems, and platform capabilities
  • Assess dependencies, implementation considerations, and operational requirements
  • Identify gaps or inconsistencies affecting technical feasibility
  • Evaluate platform-related recommendations for clarity and practicality

Infrastructure & Systems

  • Review materials involving infrastructure, systems engineering, and technical operations
  • Assess whether proposed approaches reflect realistic production environments
  • Evaluate system dependencies, operational considerations, and implementation constraints
  • Identify technical risks, unclear assumptions, or incomplete reasoning
  • Apply practical judgement to infrastructure and systems-related scenarios

Technical Planning & Analysis

  • Evaluate engineering plans, analyses, and supporting documentation
  • Assess whether conclusions are appropriately supported by available information
  • Review technical requirements, assumptions, priorities, and dependencies
  • Identify analytical or logical inconsistencies
  • Evaluate recommendations for technical relevance and professional quality

Spreadsheet Review

  • Review Excel spreadsheets for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Assess calculations, tables, supporting data, and technical analyses
  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies, or obvious errors
  • Evaluate whether quantitative outputs support stated conclusions
  • Maintain strong attention to detail across spreadsheet-based work products

Document & Presentation Review

  • Review Word documents and PowerPoint presentations for accuracy, organisation, and professional quality
  • Assess technical narratives, supporting analyses, and presentation structure
  • Identify inconsistencies between underlying information and presented conclusions
  • Evaluate whether technical information is communicated clearly
  • Review materials against defined project guidelines

Structured Evaluation & Feedback

  • Assess assigned engineering work products against defined quality standards
  • Identify substantive technical, analytical, organisational, and presentation issues
  • Distinguish material concerns from minor editorial issues
  • Provide clear, concise, and actionable written feedback
  • Apply evaluation criteria consistently across assignments

Ideal Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • At least 2+ years of relevant professional experience in software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related technical field
  • Experience as a Software Engineer, Platform Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar professional
  • Strong understanding of software systems, technical infrastructure, or platform development
  • Strong analytical and document-review skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow structured guidelines
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Comfortable reviewing varied technical and engineering work products
  • Able to work independently and provide precise professional feedback

  • Compensation: $70–$150/hour
  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Work focuses on software engineering, platform development, infrastructure, technical document review, and structured evaluation
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
