Job Title: Program Manager

The Position:

Our Edmonton client is seeking a full‑time contract Program Manager to join their Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO). Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Delivery, this role leads complex business and technology programs spanning multiple departments, systems, and stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners. You build trusted relationships, communicate effectively, and motivate diverse teams toward shared goals.

Working primarily in a remote environment, you will manage strategic initiatives aligned with enterprise priorities, delivering measurable business value through disciplined execution. You will plan and lead the work, manage resources, budgets, schedules, and dependencies, and ensure solutions are delivered on time and within approved budgets.

What You'll Do:

Program Leadership & Strategic Alignment

  • Partner with business leaders, operational teams, and IT to understand objectives, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Translate program vision into a clear roadmap with defined scope, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure initiatives align with enterprise strategy and are visible to executive leadership.

Planning, Execution & Delivery

  • Define and manage integrated program and project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, dependencies, and success metrics.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams delivering modernization, automation, digitization, and technology‑enabled initiatives.
  • Facilitate decisions, remove roadblocks, and maintain momentum across concurrent workstreams.

Financial, Resource & Risk Management

  • Manage program and project budgets, monitoring forecasts and addressing variances.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize impact and delivery speed.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating as required.

Organizational Change & Operational Readiness

  • Partner with Organizational Change Management and operations to prepare the business for change.
  • Ensure training, communication, and transition plans support adoption and readiness.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation.

Mandatories:

  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in business, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP®, PRINCE2, PMI‑ACP).
  • 10+ years of project management experience, including 5+ years in program management.
  • Proven delivery of complex business and technology solutions from initiation through transition to operations.
  • Experience managing programs in remote and hybrid environments with cross‑functional business, IT, and vendor teams.
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC.
  • Hands‑on experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches.
  • Demonstrated vendor management experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and team‑building capabilities.
  • Assets include Program management certification (e.g., PgMP®), Organizational Change Management experience or certification (e.g., Prosci) and/or experience with tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA, SharePoint, and Power BI.
