Location: Edmonton, AB (Onsite)
Type: 6 Month Contract
Eligibility: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Position Overview: Our Edmonton Area Client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Applications Analyst for a 6-month contract. You will manage, maintain, and develop business applications to ensure they meet required service levels and align with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage deployment of changes to business applications in non-production environments.
- Research and recommend software improvements.
- Collaborate in the deployment of software programs and applications.
- Ensure software solutions support required business service levels.
- Install and configure business applications, upgrades, and patches.
- Contribute to support, development, and maintenance strategies.
- Implement best practices for onboarding new technologies.
- Support the maturation of the Software Asset Management framework.
- Conduct peer code reviews for compliance.
- Design and implement small development solutions.
- Ensure compliance with change management processes.
- Define software installation and small development project plans.
- Lead system support activities for a large application portfolio.
- Manage reporting and batch processes.
- Assess application environment for operational efficiencies.
- Prepare reports and documentation on application status and maintenance.
- Work independently on complex technical issues.
- Resolve problems and identify opportunities with broad business and technical knowledge.
- Communicate technical messages effectively to stakeholders.
- Understand industry trends to recommend best practices and new technologies.
Qualifications:
- College or University degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience and leading projects/initiatives.
- Minimum 3 years of Tier 2/3 support experience.
- Development experience in .Net, C#, JavaScript, VBScript, SQL, Oracle.
- Knowledge of JSON, REST, and SOAP is an asset.
- Experience with source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environments.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (Kanban and Scrum).
- Expert knowledge of ITIL and SDLC processes and practices.
- Proficient in corrective and preventive maintenance, configuration management, and application performance standards.
- Experience managing data from mission-critical software applications.
- Knowledge of data privacy and security practices.
- Knowledge of database design and file management techniques.
- Knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards.
- Highly motivated and self-directed with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent customer-service orientation with strong communication skills.
