The Position:

Our Edmonton client is seeking a full‑time contract Senior Project Manager to work in partnership with technology teams and business stakeholders to lead the delivery of complex business and technology‑focused solutions.

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Delivery, this role is part of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) and is responsible for managing large, complex projects that span multiple departments, systems, and stakeholders, including both internal teams and external vendors.

Working primarily in a remote environment, you will lead strategic initiatives aligned with organizational objectives, delivering measurable business value. You will plan and manage project scope, resources, schedules, budgets, risks, and dependencies to ensure successful delivery on time and within budget. Your experience managing business and technology solution implementations (custom, COTS, and SaaS) will be critical to your success.

You bring strong experience supporting and operating within an Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, including project intake and demand management, delivery execution, benefits realization, capacity planning, and multi‑level reporting. You are a collaborative, execution‑focused project leader who thrives in dynamic, enterprise‑scale environments and excels at stakeholder engagement.

What You'll Do:

  • Engage with business partners and stakeholders to understand objectives and requirements, ensuring project outcomes align with expectations and deliver business value.
  • Define and manage end‑to‑end project plans, including scope, work breakdown structure, schedule, resources, and budget.
  • Manage project financials, monitoring and controlling scope, schedule, and costs, and addressing variances as required.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project and enterprise risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies and facilitating timely resolution.
  • Partner with Organizational Change Management and operational teams to ensure readiness, adoption, and successful transition to operations.
  • Champion the organization's Enterprise PMO methodology to ensure consistency and alignment.
  • Lead and coordinate cross‑functional teams across business, IT, vendors, and partners.
  • Act as a point of escalation to address delivery challenges, roadblocks, and resource constraints.
  • Mentor and support team members, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
  • Prepare and deliver clear status updates, reports, and presentations to stakeholders at various levels.
  • Contribute to enterprise planning by sharing lessons learned, best practices, and supporting portfolio‑level alignment.
  • Collaborate with other Project Managers to ensure alignment across the project portfolio.

Mandatories:

  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in business, information technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP®, PRINCE2, PMI‑ACP).
  • 10+ years of progressive project management experience across the full project lifecycle.
  • Proven experience delivering complex business and technology solutions from concept through implementation and operational transition.
  • Experience managing projects in remote and hybrid environments with cross‑functional business, IT, and vendor teams.
  • Strong understanding of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Hands‑on experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Demonstrated vendor management experience, including oversight and performance management.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Assets include Organizational Change Management certification or experience (e.g., Prosci), experience with tools such as MS Project, JIRA, ServiceNow, SharePoint, and Power BI.
