Job Title: C3D Drafter
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Hybrid)

The Position:

Our Edmonton-based client is seeking a C3D Drafter to support the preparation of civil engineering design drawings and models for municipal, commercial, and light industrial projects. You will be responsible for developing accurate Civil 3D models, preparing detailed design drawings, coordinating survey data, supporting field inspections, and collaborating with engineering and project teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects.

You will have strong Civil 3D drafting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.

What You'll Do:

Civil Design & Drafting

  • Prepare civil engineering drawings and models using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Develop road design, rough grading, final grading, underground utility, and stormwater management drawings.
  • Create and maintain accurate design models based on engineering specifications and survey data.
  • Produce drafting deliverables that meet project requirements, standards, and quality expectations.
  • Revise drawings and models based on project changes and stakeholder feedback.
  • Develop and maintain standardized drafting templates and design practices.

Project Coordination & Technical Support

  • Coordinate and process survey information for incorporation into design models.
  • Support field inspections and site-related activities as required.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, surveyors, and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide drafting-related technical support.
  • Assist with project documentation and drawing management throughout the project lifecycle.

Quantity Take-Offs & Documentation

  • Perform material quantity take-offs and assist in the preparation of bills of materials.
  • Prepare supporting documentation related to project design and construction requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project records and drawing revisions.
  • Ensure all documentation is current, complete, and compliant with applicable standards.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
  • Ensure drafting deliverables comply with applicable municipal standards, regulations, and project requirements.
  • Identify design conflicts and collaborate with project teams to develop effective solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting standards and processes.

Collaboration & Project Delivery

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Manage competing priorities and multiple project deadlines.
  • Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and deliverable tracking.
  • Support a positive, team-oriented working environment.

Mandatories:

  • Civil Engineering Design and Drafting Technology (EDDT) Diploma, Civil Engineering Technology Diploma, or related technical education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of civil drafting and design experience, preferably within municipal, commercial, or industrial projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience preparing civil engineering drawings related to roads, grading, underground utilities, and stormwater management systems.
  • Strong understanding of drafting principles, standards, and design documentation practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and survey data.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Assets:

  • Registration or certification with ASET or a similar professional organization.
  • Experience using AutoTURN.
  • Experience using Navisworks.
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS, GlobalMapper, or QGIS.
  • Experience supporting municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience conducting field inspections and site reviews.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
