Role Overview
Our client is seeking a highly competent and proactive Compliance Officer with proven experience supporting an FSP under South African regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of compliance obligations applicable to fintech, payments, and crypto-asset service providers. You will work closely with the team to ensure regulatory adherence, maintain robust controls, and support the business in navigating a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3–5 years' compliance experience within a Financial Services Provider (FSP) environment.
- Strong working knowledge of FICA, FAIS, AML/CFT obligations, and FSCA regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in the fintech, payments, or crypto-asset space advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and reporting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage competing priorities.
- Must be based in Cape Town.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and implement our client’s compliance framework in line with here relevant regulatory requirements.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of internal processes to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, internal policies and industry best practice.
- Develop, review, and update compliance policies, procedures, and manuals.
- Assist in preparing and submitting statutory and regulatory reports.
- Perform client and counterparty due diligence, enhanced due diligence, sanctions screening, and ongoing monitoring.
- Support the development and enhancement of our client’s risk management and compliance control environment.
- Conduct compliance training and awareness sessions for internal teams.
- Identify regulatory developments impacting the business and assist in interpreting and implementing required changes.
- Collaborate with external compliance practitioners, auditors, and regulatory bodies where necessary.
- Participate in internal audits, compliance reviews, and remediation activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, registers, and record-keeping in accordance with FSP obligations.
