Role Overview

The Golf Course Landscape Attendant is responsible for maintaining the aesthetic beauty and environmental health of the golf course’s landscaped areas. This role involves the care and cultivation of indigenous plants, trees, shrubs, ensuring that the landscape enhances the overall experience for members and guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture, an eye for detail, and a passion for creating and maintaining visually stunning landscapes.

  

The primary purpose of the Golf Course Landscape Attendant is to manage and maintain all landscaped areas of the golf course, including gardens, pathways, water features, and natural habitats. The scope of this role includes planting, pruning, mulching, fertilising, and controlling pests in landscaped areas. The Landscape Attendant plays a key role in ensuring that the golf course’s surroundings are as meticulously maintained as the playing areas, contributing to the club’s reputation for excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in horticulture, landscape management, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in landscape maintenance or horticulture, preferably in a golf course or high-end resort setting.
  • Strong knowledge of plant care, landscaping techniques, and pest management; proficiency with landscape maintenance tools and equipment; basic knowledge of irrigation systems.
  • Horticultural Expertise - Extensive knowledge of plant care, including planting, pruning, fertilisation, and pest control. Ability to maintain a wide variety of plants in different conditions.
  • Attention to Detail - Meticulous in maintaining the aesthetic quality of landscaped areas, ensuring all elements are well-groomed and visually appealing.
  • Creativity and Design Sense - Ability to contribute to the design and installation of landscaped areas, ensuring they enhance the overall course environment.
  • Problem-Solving - Ability to diagnose and address issues related to plant health, irrigation, and landscape maintenance quickly and effectively.
  • Environmental Awareness - Commitment to using sustainable practices and promoting biodiversity in the course’s landscaping efforts

  

Responsibilities

 

Landscape Maintenance:

  • Perform daily maintenance tasks such as weeding, pruning, deadheading, and mulching to ensure landscaped areas are neat, tidy, and visually appealing.
  • Mow and edge lawns in landscaped areas, ensuring a clean and defined look.

  

Plant Care and Cultivation:

  • Plant and care for a variety of indigenous plants, shrubs, trees, ensuring they thrive in the golf course environment.
  • Monitor plant health, identifying signs of disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies, and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Implement a seasonal planting plan to ensure year-round visual interest.

  

Fertilisation and Pest Control:

  • Apply fertilisers and soil amendments to landscaped areas to promote healthy plant growth.
  • Implement integrated pest management strategies to control pests and diseases in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of all chemical applications, adhering to safety and environmental regulations.

  

Watering and Irrigation:

  • Monitor soil moisture levels and adjust watering schedules to ensure optimal plant health while conserving water.
  • Operate and maintain irrigation systems in landscaped areas, making adjustments as needed for weather conditions and plant needs.
  • Hand-water delicate or newly planted areas as required.

  

Landscape Design and Installation:

  • Assist with the design and installation of new landscaped areas, working with the (HGCS) and other team members to create visually stunning environments.
  • Ensure that all landscape installations complement the overall aesthetic of the golf course.

  

Environmental Stewardship:

  • Promote biodiversity by incorporating native plants and sustainable landscaping practices.
  • Protect and enhance natural habitats and water features within the golf course.
  • Contribute to the club’s environmental initiatives by implementing eco-friendly landscaping practices.
